The Rev. Theodore Seginak of Holy Trinity Monastery, Jefferson Township, celebrated his 85th birthday Sunday. A surprise party was given by the parishioners of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Nanty Glo.

The former Joseph Seginak was born March 5, 1921, in Gary, Ind. He chose the name Theodore upon entering the Benedictine Monastery more than 60 years ago. He was ordained to the priesthood May 8, 1949, at St. Mary's Church in Whiting, Ind.

Known as the Rhyming Priest and Poet, he enjoys creating impromptu poetry and rhymes.

Seginak retired to Holy Trinity Monastery and continues to celebrate weekly Masses at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.
