John H. Burk

John H. Burk, 86, of Middlesex Township died Wednesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born June 7, 1919, in Gibsonia, he was the son of Frank and Anna Schweppe Burk.

A World War II Army veteran, he entered Europe the day after D-Day and served until the surrender of Germany in 1945.

Mr. Burk, along with his wife Marjory, owned and operated the Fischer Nursery in Middlesex Township for years.

He was a devoted and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, the Rich-Mar Rotary Club, the American Legion Post 548 in Richland Township and the Bakerstown Beagle Club.

He was a loving family man and loved to run his dogs, play golf and play cards.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Marjory J. Fischer Burk, whom he married April 18, 1942; two children, John H. (Catherine) Burk of West Deer Township and Connie L. (Ronald) Weismann of Middlesex Township; and two brothers, Clyde and Clifford Burk. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melinda (Jerry) Hoyostek and Timothy, Michelle and Jeffrey Burk; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, David F. Burk; four brothers, Edward, Frank, Elmer and Kenneth; and three sisters, Gertrude, Ruth and Irene.

BURK — Friends of John H. Burk, who died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown with the Rev. Paul Becker Jr. and Rev. Theodore Martin, co-officiating.
