Eight Butler wrestlers and two from Seneca Valley will be among those competing in the WPIAL Class AAA Tournament tonight through Saturday at Norwin High School.

Butler sophomore Ian McLaughlin (30-4) enters the meet as the Section 3 champion. Fellow sophomore and teammate Josh Pascazi (28-7) is a second-place qualifier.

The other eight Butler County WPIAL qualifiers finished third in the section tournament.

They include Butler's Rob Runyan (30-6) at 103 pounds, Stew Rapone (27-10) at 130, Alex Evanoff (23-14) at 135, Josh Coburn (30-6) at 152, Dave Coburn (17-9) at 171 and Marcus Hough (15-7) at heavyweight.

Seneca Valley qualifiers are Frank Mullett (12-7) at 145 pounds and Nick Perri (4-3) at 160.

Pigtail rounds begin at 5 p.m. today while the first-round starts at 6. The quarterfinals and first-round consolations begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Second-round consolations are at 10 a.m. Saturday with semifinals and third-round consolations at noon. Fourth-round consolations are at 2:15 p.m.

Consolation finals begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by the Parade of Champions at 7:20 p.m. and the championship finals at 7:30 p.m.

The top three placers in each weight class advance to the state meet in Hershey next weekend.

Admission to the tournament for each of the first three sessions is $5 for adults, $3 for students. Admission for Session 4, the championship round, is $7 for adults, $3 for students.

All-tournament passes are available Thursday for $22, Friday for $17 and Saturday for $12.

Four Mars wrestlers, Matt Perri (34-6) at 119 pounds, Logan Giger (36-9) at 145, David Pisarcik (41-0) at 189 and Pete King (30-7) at 215, are competing in the Class AA Southwest Regional Friday and Saturday in Johnstown.

Pisarcik is one of only four unbeaten wrestlers in that tournament.
