Mars' Pisarcik still unbeaten on wrestling mat

Dave Pisarcik stayed perfect.

The undefeated Mars High School wrestler cruised through the WPIAL Class AA championships, winning the championship match at 189 pounds 2-0 over Phil Henderson of Chartiers Houston to move on to the Southwest Regional championships, which begin Friday in Johnstown.

Piscarcik was one of four Mars wrestlers to move on to the regional tournament.

Matt Perri (119) lost his championship match to Troy Dolan of Derry by injury default just 33 seconds into the match.

Pete King (215) placed fourth, losing his third-place consolation match to Codie Noga of Avella 4-2.

Logan Giger (145) placed sixth, falling by pin to Matt Longshore of South Side Beaver in the fifth-place consolation match.

The top six in each weight class moved on.

After placing 25th in the WPIAL diving championships as a freshman, Seneca Valley sophomore Diana Rocco was looking for some improvement this year at the championships held over the weekend.She got it.Rocco placed second with a mark of 430.45, less than four points behind the WPIAL champion, Amanda Lohman of Upper St. Clair.With the finish, Rocco advanced to the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championship slated to begin March 15 at Bucknell University.Butler's Jessica Schnur, the No. 1 seed heading into the event, placed fourth with a score of 377.75. She also qualified for the state meet.On the boys side, Butler's John Rhodaberger placed fifth with a score of 371.50 to advance to states.
