Joan N. Luke

Joan N. Luke, 71, of Slippery Rock Township, died Thursday night at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born June 11, 1934, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Joseph Young and Alva Jacoby.

She was a resident of Slippery Rock Township for the past 48 years and was a custodian for Slippery Rock University until her retirement.

Mrs. Luke enjoyed various types of gambling and was a NASCAR fan.

Surviving are her husband, Nicholas J. Luke of Slippery Rock Township; a daughter, Debra J. Thompson and her husband, Kevin, of Boyers; a son; Stephen N. Luke and his wife, Tammy, of Port Orange, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Young and his wife, Lillian of Grove City.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Forest.

LUKE — A memorial service for Joan N. Luke, who died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Slippery Rock Baptist Church, 435 Kiester Road. Arrangements are being handled by the THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Blawnox.Memorial donations may be made to the Slippery Rock Baptist Church, 435 Kiester Rd., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
