STAR
Sunday
LeBron James, Cavaliers, scored 29 points on 12-of-21 shooting and became the youngest All-Star game MVP in NBA history as the East beat the West 122-120 in Houston on Sunday.
THE YOUNGEST ONE
LeBron James finished with 29 points in the East's 122-120 comeback victory over the West in Sunday's All-Star game. The 21-year-old Cleveland star became the youngest All-Star game MVP in NBA history, surpassing Oscar Robertson, who was 22 years old when he earned the honor in 1961.
PUTBACK
With the score of Sunday's All-Star game tied at 120, Allen Iverson was off-target on a late jumper, but Dwyane Wade darted into the lane for the rebound and the go-ahead basket with 16 seconds left that secured a 122-120 victory for the East.
HOMETOWN STARS
Houston forward Tracy McGrady, casting aside unspecified personal troubles, scored a game-high 36 points in front of his hometown fans and could have been the game's MVP had the West won Sunday's All-Star game. The list of players to win MVP honors in their home city includes Shaquille O'Neal (Los Angeles, 2004), Karl Malone and John Stockton (Salt Lake City, 1993) and Michael Jordan (Chicago, 1988).
QUIET NIGHT
Rockets center Yao Ming, the league's top vote-getter for the second straight year, had just five points and two rebounds in 19 minutes as the West fell 122-120 to the East in Sunday's All-Star game.
PISTONS APLENTY
Detroit starters Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace became the first four teammates to play together in an All-Star game since the Los Angeles Lakers sent Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel to the 1998 game in New York.
SPEAKING
"He's a great player. He's the future of this game." — Shaquille O'Neal on 21-year-old LeBron James, who became the youngest All-Star game MVP in league history with 29 points in the East's 122-120 victory over the West on Sunday.
