James "Squire" Jr. and Carol Hiles of Karns City celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a dinner for family and friends hosted by their children at Petrolia Presbyterian Church.

The former Carol Young married Hiles on Jan. 21, 1956, in Karns City.

They have five children, Steve Hiles of Chicora; Kathy Rumbaugh of Hilliards; Cindy Hillwig and Jeff Hiles, both of Karns City; and Marcia Roessing of Parker. A daughter, Linda Hiles, is deceased.

They also have 13 grandchildren.

Hiles is retired from Indspec Chemical.

Mrs. Hiles is a homemaker.

The couple belongs to the Christian Praise and Worship Church.
