Ruth Freehling of Cabot celebrated her 90th birthday recently with an open house at the dining room of the Concordia Apartments.

The former Ruth McConnell was born Feb. 12, 1916, in Vandergrift. She married Kenneth Freehling on Oct. 23, 1948. He is deceased.

She has a son, Michael Freehling of Spartanburg, S.C. She also has two grandchildren.

Mrs. Freehling is retired from City Hospital in Akron, where she worked as an X-ray technician. She also served in the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) program for the Navy.

She is a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver and the American Legion in Cabot.
