Kenneth Grossman of Saxonburg will celebrate his 85th birthday Friday. He will mark the occasion Saturday with a family luncheon at Elena's Restaurant in Lower Burrell. A reception will follow at the home of his daughter.

Grossman was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Cabot. He married the former Rose Conrad on July 17, 1948.

He has three children, Lynda Fularz of Lower Burrell, Karen Leibowitz of Tarentum and Jon Grossman of Saxonburg.

He also has five grandchildren. A great granddaughter is deceased.

Grossman retired from Allegheny Technologies in Natrona Heights after 42 years. He served with the Army, 26th Medical Detachment, Pacific and Japanese theaters of action. He had two beachheads, was awarded three bronze stars, and received various ribbons and medals of honor.
