Denver Steeler says he isn't a big football fan
PITTSBURGH — Searching for a Steeler in Bronco country? If you are, you'll probably find Jon.
Jonathan H. Steeler lives in Denver. Despite his last name, he says he's not a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and not really a big football fan at all. He's not even sure he'll watch the AFC Championship matchup Sunday between the Steelers and Broncos.
"Depends on what else is going on," Steeler, 52, a business and environmental attorney, tells a Pittsburgh newspaper. "I'll probably end up watching most of it."
Steeler said he hasn't been getting too much ribbing about this last name.
But back in the Pittsburgh area, the Bronco family of Bethel Park hasn't been so lucky.
"My daughter is hearing it at school a little bit and I teach elementary school and I'm getting a bit of it here and there, but all in good fun," said Pam Bronco, 40.
The Broncos are going to root for the Steelers, and Steeler plans to root for his home team, too. That's the Broncos, in case you lost track.
"I'd like to think the Broncos are going to win," he said. "I'd rather have them win because everybody will be in a good mood on Monday."
