RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Deb Shutak will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. service Sunday at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68. Children's church will be led by Al Martsolf and children's Bible quizzing resumes with Linda Brown directing.

Pittsburgh District Teen Bible Quizzing events will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Meadville Church of the Nazarene for the North region and at the Monongahela Church of the Nazarene for the South region.

An all-church dinner sponsored by Kids Club Caravan will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Kids Club activities will follow at 6:45 p.m. and Wednesday Worship for Adults at 7 p.m.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

New member and information classes led by Ken Palmer will begin Wednesday at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., Classes will be held on the third floor of the church for six to eight weeks.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The regular schedule for worship services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, returns with services at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday. Newly elected church leaders will be dedicated this weekend.

Adult drivers are needed for a youth group trip to PPG Place in Pittsburgh for ice-skating.

Couples planning to attend the winter retreat at Olmsted Manor should contact the Rev. Kathy Mikesell by Tuesday

for room reservations. A deposit of $15 is required.

The 2006 Flower Chart is posted in the narthex. The cost is $14.50 per vase.

The requested food items for January are tuna and noodles.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Rev. William Jamieson will lead the Seekers Class at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The topic of the class will be "The Prophet Amos."

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

New Ministry School classes will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive. Classes will include "The Carpenter's Tools: Learning to operate in the gifts of the spirit," led by the Rev. Richard Jenks, and "Believing God," a video teaching by Beth Moore, facilitated by Bonnie Jacobson and Sharon Moore.

FIRST U.M.

A Kidz Ministry meeting will be held at 6 p.m. today in the conference room at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St. For information, contact Michelle Winters at the church office, 724-283-6160.

Ground Zero, the confirmation class and FROGS will resume meetings at 6 p.m. Sunday.

GLADE RUN U.P.

The ordination and installation of new officers will take place at both Sunday services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia.

A new Bible study for women will begin Jan. 19 and will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Youth Room. For information on the 10-12 week series, call 724-898-1016.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

A Winterfest Celebration for students in kindergarten through grade six will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday in the social room at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St. The event will include games, crafts and snacks.

The Faith Shapers Youth Group will continue to meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month throughout. Also, the older youth group will continue to meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays. Starting this Sunday, the youth group will meet in the new youth center.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

Lyric Ackelson will provide special music at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at GraceWay Community Church, Center Township Elementary School, Mercer Road, Center Township. This will be Ackelson's first performance at the church since returning from work on a Broadway show.

Deli Devotions will resume at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rocky Mountain Deli on Main Street.

HILL U.P.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at the 6 p.m. Saturday service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

The Memorial Handbell Choir will perform at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. The junior team will usher.

The January session meeting has been moved to 6:45 p.m. Jan. 15.

The adult Faith Builders breakfast will begin at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in Fellowship Hall. Child care is available beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday school classes for children age 3 through grade 12 also resume at 9:15 a.m.

A film festival for children in kindergarten through grade four will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Jan. 15. Cost is $2 for pizza. Space is limited. A sign-up sheet is posted on the Christian Education bulletin board.

The women's book discussion group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 16. Rose Hall will lead a discussion on "The DaVinci Code."

Covenant Cupboard food requests for January are graham crackers and saltines.

MERIDIAN U.P.

A blood pressure screening will be held after the 11 a.m. Sunday service in the Bell Room at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave.

The auditors will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday to audit the treasurers' books. Treasurers should have their books ready and leave them in the church office.

The special offering collected during January will benefit the New Wilmington Foundation.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Patrick Haver, coordinator of the East Liberty Food Kitchen, will share information on this mission at the Sunday worship celebration at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg. Two Son LIFE Sunday School electives for teens and adults will be offered at 9 a.m. on Sundays. "Biblical Truths for Today" will study "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and "Romans: Understanding God's Grace and Power."

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

A Baptism class will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the conference room at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext. The class will be held in preparation for Baptism on Jan. 15.

Members of the congregation who read through the Bible in one year will be recognized at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

The Discovery Series will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be provided and snack breaks are planned. To register, call the church office at 724-285-4214.

A hymn sing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Parlor. The guest speaker will be Chuck Wanner. Refreshments will be available.

The Women's Word group will begin the Beth Moore study, "Believing God," at its 9:30 a.m. Tuesday meeting. The study will be led by Karen Hunter. Workbooks will be sold for $15 each. Child care will be available.

A youth and family ski trip to Hidden Valley Resort is planned on Jan. 28. The group will depart from the church at 7 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. Cost is $50 for adults and $40 for youths with ski rental or $33 for adults and $26 for youths without ski rental. OLD UNION PRESBY

During worship this week, the newly elected elders and deacons of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will be ordained and installed.

PARK U.P.

New members will be received and 2006 officers ordained and installed during the Sunday service at Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. The service will also include an Epiphany celebration.

The Men's Group will host a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Maj. Dustin Eaton of the Marine Corps Reserves will speak on his service in Iraq.

The annual congregational meeting will be held Jan. 18 in Fellowship Hall. A tureen dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.

RIDER LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury.

The annual congregational meeting will follow.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

Holy Communion will be observed along with the Sacrament of Marriage between Cheryl Patience and Terry Williams during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St.

Church members will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday to take down Christmas Decorations.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be held be shared during the 9 a.m. Sunday service at Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, Concord Township. Council members for 2006 should be present for installation during the service.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The Lord's Supper will be shared at the 6:30 p.m. Saturday service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr., Center Township.

A Mission and Vision gathering and soup and salad luncheon will be held after the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

A youth lock-in will be held from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday at the YMCA. 339 N. Washington St.

The youth group Christmas party will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Participants should take a white elephant gift.

Soup and chili are being collected for the food cupboard during January.

TRINITY PRESBY

A special Session meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave.

A training meeting for new elders and deacons will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Trinity Fellowship will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday for a catered dinner in Fellowship Hall.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

New officers will be ordained and installed during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday service at White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew.

Members will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church to take down Christmas decorations.

Junior church and primary Sunday school classes will resume this Sunday.

ZION LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be held be shared during the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, Concord Township. Council members for 2006 should be present for installation during the service.
