Personal trainers help attain goals

The last few years have seen some big changes in the fitness industry.

Not too long ago, only the rich and famous hired personal trainers. But now, the idea of a personal trainer is inviting to many people.

Exercising while under the supervision of a certified personal trainer can provide several benefits. Besides providing individual attention and motivation, a certified trainer can help you achieve athletic goals such as improving your golf game or tennis game, help you achieve health goals such as lowering your cholesterol or blood pressure, and keep you informed of the latest training techniques.

Personal training can be especially beneficial to those who have trouble sticking to an exercise program. A certified personal trainer helps you stay on track with consistency and precision by adding variety to the routine that helps to keep it fresh and fun.

A personal trainer takes into account each individual's goals and abilities along with their health history. This will allow the trainer to design a personalized exercise program that will help you achieve your fitness goals.

If you are interested in hiring a personal trainer, there are some things to look for. The trainer should have either a bachelor's degree in exercise science or comparable field, or be certified by a reputable organization.

Studies at the University of California showed personal trainers who are certified by the American College of Sports Medicine or the National Strength and Conditioning Association had the most knowledge of exercise prescriptions, fitness testing protocols, health screening, nutrition and dealing with special needs clients, such as those with chronic illnesses.

Remember, when it comes to personal training the responsibility is on the consumer to know if a perspective trainer is qualified.
