12:55 a.m. Thursday — A truck driven by Ronald Cousins, 36, of Kittanning was traveling on Route 268 in Fairview Township when it slid off the road, went over an embankment, and hit a tree. Cousins received minor injuries.1:20 a.m. Thursday — An SUV driven by Ronald Smith, 28, of Slippery Rock was traveling on Beaver Valley Road in Clay Township when it left the snow-covered road, hit an embankment and rolled onto its side in the southbound lane. Smith was not wearing a seat belt but was not injured. Following the accident, he fled. Smith was cited with failing to immediately notify police and traffic violations, including not driving a vehicle at a safe speed4:37 p.m. Thursday — A vehicle driven by Patrick Graham, 23, of Butler was traveling on Route 68 in Oakland Township when it slid off the road due to slippery conditions and struck a utility pole. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.Wednesday — TomCo Storage Units in Mercer Township reported the theft of a cedar chest from its Route 173 location between Nov. 17 and 23. In addition to the theft, seven padlocks were cut. Anyone with information about the incident should call state police at 724-284-8100.
7:40 a.m. Friday — A truck driven by Fred Hunsaker, 55, of Missoula, Mont., and an SUV driven by Joseph Aiello, 34, of Ridgeway, Pa., collided on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
Friday — An SUV driven by Eric Sperl, 26, of Pittsburgh hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Dale Noelting, 55, of Cranberry Township on Route 28 near the Highland Park Bridge in Allegheny County. The impact pushed Noelting's vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by William Mayfield, 55, of Pittsburgh. Sperl received minor injuries. Sperl's passenger, Brooke Porterfield, 23, of Pittsburgh, Noelting, Mayfield and Mayfield's passengers, Afi Mayfield, 33, and a juvenile, were not injured. All six people were wearing seat belts.8:15 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by an unidentified 16-year-old male from Karns City collided with a van driven by Brian Troutman, 37, of Freeport on Freeport Road in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County. The 16-year-old, Troutman and Troutman's two passengers, a 10-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy, were wearing seat belts and were not injured. The 16-year-old was cited for not driving at a safe speed. The South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department assisted state police by providing traffic control.
3:50 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Charles T. Powell Jr., 20, of Brookville, Pa., was traveling on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township when it left the road and struck a center concrete barrier. The accident occurred when Powell reached down to pick up a cell phone that fell down. Powell and his passenger, Nikola Vasilev, 19, of Greenville were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
