The Very Reverend William Diakiw and his wife, Sonia, of Renfrew celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a family dinner at the Saxonburg House.

The former Sonia Peltz married Diakiw on Aug. 28, 1955, at the Holy Virgin Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Arnold.

They have three children, Debbie Roach of Harrisonburg, Va.; Ted Diakiw of Beavercreek, Ohio; and Lydia Rudolf of Butler.

They also have eight grandchildren.

Diakiw serves as vice president of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Consistory in South Bound Brook, N.J.

Mrs. Diakiw is retired from her job as a registered nurse at Armco/AK Steel.
