Carrie Michaels, a former Slippery Rock University assistant women's basketball coach, has been named commissioner of the Atlantic Women's College Conference.
Michaels, who also served The Rock as an assistant to the athletic director, in academic support and fund-raising, earned a Masters degree in sports management from SRU in 2001.
Butler graduate Kim Nowakowski, a sophomore forward at California (Pa.) University, scored four points and grabbed three rebounds in the Lady Vulcans' 85-48 exhibition women's basketball loss to Pitt Friday night at the Petersen Events Center.Nowakowski was in the starting lineup for California and played 23 minutes.
