RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will be provided by the Men's Quartet. Ashley McIndoe will be the leader for Children's Church beginning at 10:45 a.m.

The Caravan Kids Club slumber party/sleepover will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The event will begin with a Great Pumpkin Hunt. Children should take sleeping bags and overnight gear. Participants can be picked up at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A teen Bible quizzing invitational will be held Saturday at the Waynesburg Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg. Quizzing will cover Romans 1-11.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Friday is the last day to drop off new or gently used winter clothing items for the Coats of Love Project at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. Coats, scarves, hats, gloves or mittens may be placed in collection boxes in the narthex.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated during weekend worship services.

The youth group will participate in a Top Secret Mission Project from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Anniversary souvenirs are available for pickup in the narthex.

Donations are being collected to purchase school supply items for kits for children affected by the recent hurricanes. Cost is $10 per kit. Members also are asked to purchase baby gowns or sleepers during November for disaster victims worldwide.

District Superintendent, Dean Ziegler will conduct the annual church conference at 7 p.m. Monday. Church officers should attend and members are invited.

The food items being collected during November are spaghetti, and spaghetti sauce.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Don Hixon will be the guest speaker at the Saturday service at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave.

The Saturday night praise and worship team Innerchange will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at College Hill Church of the Nazarene in Beaver Falls.

Dwight Morrison will provide music for the Sunday service.

A missionary service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker William Regester will talk about the work and witness program in the Church of the Nazarene and will show a video on one of his trips.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated during the Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Stewardship Sunday also will be observed.

The Covenant Cupboard Food Bank is requesting donations of peanut butter and jelly for November. Baskets for the donations are in the Jefferson Street front hallway.

The Rev. Fred Young, retired Baptist minister, will continue his series on grief for the Seekers Class at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Berean Sunday school class of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will take part in an evening of dinner and games Friday. The event will start at 5 p.m. in the Baptist Youth Center. Attendees are to take a casserole or salad and their favorite games. Dessert will be provided

The Kingdom Seekers Class will hold a hot dog roast and hay ride, weather permitting, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Members of First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., who wish to receive "The Lutheran" at home or renew a subscription for 2006, should call the church at 724-283-2378 as soon as possible.

FIRST U.M.

The FROGS group of First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will participate in a retreat Friday through Monday at Camp Agawam. For information, contact Virginia Wells. Due to the retreat, there will be no FROGS meeting on Sunday.

The 10:50 a.m. Sunday, service will include scheduled baptisms.

New member orientation will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Wesley Hall.

GLADE RUN U.P.

The Worship Planning Team of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will meet at 8 p.m. Monday.

Session and deacons will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Women's Bible Study will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Boy Scout Troop 58 will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Suggested donation is adults, $5; children 12 and under, $3. Proceeds go towards purchasing Christmas gifts for less fortunate children in the community.

The church will once again participate in Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child program. Filled shoe boxes are due to the church by Nov. 16.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

The older youth group at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will participate in a Sleep Challenge fundraising event from 4 p.m. Nov. 10 through 7 p.m. Nov. 11. Participants should take activities or snacks to help them stay awake. Dinner will be provided.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

Lauran Gillespie, Tracy Hack, Amy Dent, David Freilino, and Beth Ackelson will provide music for the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service at GraceWay Community Church, Center Township Elementary School, Mercer Road, Center Township.

Volunteers are still needed to prepare turkeys for the church Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 13 at the Meridian Fire Hall. To assist, contact Jeanie West.

A family GraceWay Christmas party is planned for Dec. 11 at the Meridian Fire Hall. Kelly Leggens will be providing music.

HILL U.P.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated during the weekend services at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The Instrumental Ensemble and a duet of organ and flute featuring Nancy Slezak and Heather Porter will perform on Sunday.

Registration is due Sunday for the HYLights youth trip to Pittsburgh Mills on November 13. The group will leave at 12:30 p.m. and return by 4 p.m. Participants should take a bag lunch, $10 for bowling and a snack.

Harvest Home food requests for this week are boxed items such as macaroni and cheese, pancake mix, rice, stuffing or cake mixes. Covenant cupboard requests for November are rice and dried beans.

Baked goods for the Election Day bake sale on Tuesday should be taken to the church by Sunday.

Operation Christmas Child brochures are located in the overflow area. Shoe boxes filled with items for children are due to the church by Nov. 20. Extra shoe boxes are needed and may be left at the church.

Orders for Presbytery Cookbooks are now being accepted. Cost is $15 each. To order, contact Bea Welch, Marian Bell or Joan Muth by Nov. 13.

Registration deadline for the youth Christmas musical is Wednesday. The first rehearsal will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11.

MERIDIAN U.P.

A special Thankoffering service will be held at the Sunday service of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave. The guest speaker will be Ellen Lineman of Saxonburg.

During November, church members will help with wheelchair service during Sunday worship at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The church choir will provide music for the Nov. 13 and 20 services.

MUDDY CREEK U.P.

The Kidzone Program at Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, will be held at Unionville United Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Drive, this week only. The program, held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays, is open to all children in sixth grade and younger. Each session includes pizza, crafts, and Bible lessons.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

The Lord's Supper will be celebrated Sunday as part of the worship time at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.

The elders council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Bridge, 102 Bay St., Penn Township.

The senior high youth group will go cosmic bowling from 10 p.m. to midnight Nov. 11 at Mystic Lanes, Valencia. Cost is $12 per person. NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

Volunteers from North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., are needed to clear the sanctuary platform and begin construction of the Living Christmas Tree at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Living Christmas Tree Choir will gather for a Saturday rehearsal from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the sanctuary.

Pat Rubright will present the program for the Women of the Church of God meeting at 7 p.m. today.

A Steelers tailgating event will be held Sunday at The Haven. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and Java with Jesus will be held at halftime. The event is open to students in grades 6 to 12.

Registration will be accepted on Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings in Noah's Park for the 9 a.m. showing of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" on Dec. 10 at the South Pike Cinemas. Tickets are $3.50 per person and must be paid for when signing up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

OAK HILLS CHRISTIAN

A family bowling party will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Family Bowlaway, Fairground Hill Road, Butler Township, members of Oak Hills Christian Church, 113 Township Line Road.

OLD UNION PRESBY

New members will be received during worship this week at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

The youth group will do "Home-Work with Hosanna" on Nov. 11. To help build or rehabilitate housing for needy people in our area, contact the church. Adults and youth are welcome.

Operation Christmas Child packages are due Nov. 13.

A congregational meeting will be held after worship on Nov. 13.

PARK U.P.

Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, will host its annual congregational meeting after the Sunday service on Nov. 13. New officers will be approved and the 2006 budget will be received.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

New members will be received during the 11 a.m. Sunday service at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City. Communion will be served at both the 8:35 and 11 a.m. services.

The SERRV Marketplace of world artisan crafts will be held 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Fellowship Hall.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

Due to safety and security reasons, the Jefferson Street and Church Street doors at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will be locked 15 minutes after Sunday School begins beginning this Sunday. This will not hamper any exit from the church. Parents picking up children should use the Birch Street or Courtyard entrances. For information, contact Kay Wharton at 724-287-4472.

There will be a meeting immediately following both Sunday services to discuss questions, concerns and comments concerning the proposed 2006 church budget. Members of the Finance Committee and council will be available to answer questions.

The annual congregation meeting will be held on Nov. 13.

A flu clinic, sponsored by the Visiting Nurses Association, will be held after the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services. Flu vaccines are free for those with Security Blue Insurance or Medicare B. The cost for all others will be $20. Consent forms are available at the entrances and should be completed before the start of the clinic.

Mission Support Sunday will be observed this weekend.

Volunteers are needed in several positions. Leaders are needed for new Bible studies and prayer groups being organized. Sunday school teachers and assistants are also needed, along with people willing to organize a 50-plus group for a once-a-month or every-other-month meeting. Nurses are needed for one Sunday each month to cover medical emergencies that may arise during Sunday services. The nursery is in need of volunteers to help during services on Sunday mornings. To volunteer in any of these areas, call the church office at 724-287-6741 to be directed to the right chairman.

Tickets are now available for the Youth Spaghetti Dinner to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

All Saints Day will be observed Sunday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St. Friendship Sunday also will be observed and November birthdays and anniversaries will be celebrated.

Brochures on the Nov. 10 through 12 "Hope and a Future 2005" conference at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, are available in the back of the church.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The Ladies Group of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will hold its annual Card Party and Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Featured will be a catered luncheon, Chinese auction, basket raffles and door prizes. Cost is $10 per person and no tickets will be sold at the door. An All Souls Day service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday to remember those loved ones who have died in the past year.

The youth from Saint Richard will participate in the World Youth Day Cruise sponsored by the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese at 6 p.m. Sunday.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

The congregation of Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, Concord Township, will mark All Saints Day with a remembrance service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

TRINITY PRESBY

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be served during the Sunday service at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. The Rev. Donn Ed will be the guest minister.

The Ruth Circle will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at King's Restaurant for lunch. A Bible study will follow at the church.

The Trinity Fellowship will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Fellowship Hall for a catered dinner. A signup sheet is located in the Narthex.
