Eugene J. Schaffer Jr.
Eugene J. Schaffer Jr., 76, of 414 W. Wayne St. died at 7:52 p.m. Sunday at his home after an illness.
Born in Butler, Aug. 29, 1929, he was the son of Eugene J. and Mayme Collins Schaffer Sr.
He had been a parts manager, started in the parts department at Standard Motor Co., which became Kelly Chevrolet, and retired after 42 years at Kelly's. He also had worked in the parts department at Mikan Pontiac for 13 years.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Schaffer was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and the R.C. Men's Club and was president of the French and Belgium Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Cavalero Schaffer, to whom he was married for 52 years; two daughters, Mrs. Rick (Mary) Josephs and Joan Schaffer, both of Butler; a brother, David Schaffer of Butler; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Schaffer Jr., who died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Franklin Street, with the Rev. Pierre Falkenhan officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society.
