RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Deb Shutak will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

Acting practice for children and teens participating in the Christmas musical will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

The Pittsburgh District's Laymen's Retreat will be held Friday through Sunday at the Radisson-Sharon in West Middlesex. The Rev. Charles Tillman of Richmond, Va., will be the guest speaker. For reservations, call Clarence Brisbine at 724-523-5322.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Youth Sunday will be celebrated during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. The youth will lead both services.

A youth scavenger hunt for food will be held at noon Sunday. The youth will then gather for a Halloween costume party at 5:30 p.m.

Third grade students will be presented with Bibles during the Sunday services.

Coin boxes for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF are due this weekend.

Sunday is the last day to donate baked goods for Butler Meals on Wheels. Donated items should be placed in the church kitchen.

Volunteers are needed for the annual Sausage Day preparation on Nov. 19. Sign-up sheets are posted in the narthex.

Adult drivers are needed to provide transportation for youth activities on Sunday and Nov. 6. To volunteer, contact Cherie Loomis or the church office.

The junior high Sunday school class is seeking donations of used video cassettes and dvds to create a library for the residents of Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Tickets are now available for the church's 40th anniversary luncheon to be held Nov. 20 at the BC3 Convocation Center. Cost is $15 for adults and $7.50 for children age 10 and younger.

The 40th Anniversary Committee is seeking tributes to honor or memorialize members who have demonstrated faith through church ministries. Forms are available in the narthex and in church bulletins. Submissions are due Nov. 13.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Innerchange will introduce a new song at the 7 p.m. Saturday contemporary service at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave. An OctoberFest celebration will follow in the gym.

Debbie Price will provide music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

COVENANT PRESBY

The movie, "Changing Lanes" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Assembly Room at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Those attending should take snacks and drinks to share and one or more food items for the Covenant Cupboard food bank.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

The 10th annual Children's Fun Festival will be held Friday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive. The event, open to children age 12 and younger, will include puppets, face painting and games. Children should wear casual clothes. Children can arrive between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Pickup time will be at 9:30 p.m. Children younger than 5 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the evening.

Those interested in being baptized during the Nov. 6 service should meet in the church overflow area following the Sunday service.

Gift-filled shoe boxes are now being collected for children in need. Informational brochures are available in the narthex. Shoeboxes are due to the church by Nov. 16.

FIRST BAPTIST

"Satan: Deceiver and Tempter" will be the theme of Tuesday's meeting of the Women's Missionary Fellowship of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St. Both the 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. session will meet in the Baptist Youth Center. Participants should bring cookies and candy to be prepared for mailing to military personnel and college students.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

The Blazing Star Choral Society will present "Faure Requiem" at 8 p.m. Tuesday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will hold a retreat from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 5 at the church. Registration forms are available at the church office.

FIRST U.M.

The Ground Zero Youth Group of First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will gather for a costume and dance party at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. For information, contact Doug Raraigh at 724-283-6160, ext. 222.

Training for members of the Stephen Ministries will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Bridal and Conference rooms.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

Amber Crowe and Jenny Taylor will provide music for the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service at GraceWay Community Church at Center Township Elementary School, Mercer Road, Center Township.

Volunteers are needed to bake and slice turkeys for the church's Thanksgiving dinner at 5 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Meridian Fire Hall. To volunteer, contact Jeanie West at 724-283-1482.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Youth who have completed two years of confirmation class will be confirmed at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St.

Starting this week, the 11 a.m. Saturday Bible studies will be held at Panera Bread, Butler Township.

A catacomb show for youth will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $5 for youth wearing costumes or $6 without a costume. Bands will include Death Follows Daybreak, From This Day On, Reflectionx, Signal Home, Arlington Arms, and The Line Dance Massacre.

HILL U.P.

The deacons of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will host a soup and salad luncheon after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Members should take a salad to share. Soup, rolls, beverages and dessert will be provided. A dessert auction will follow at 1 p.m. to benefit summer mission trips. Dessert donations should be left in the church kitchen by 10 a.m. Sunday.

Food collection for Harvest Home will begin this weekend. Canned fruits, vegetables and soups and jars of spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly are requested.

Winter coats for the "Coats of Love" project should be placed on the coat rack in the Narthex prior to Nov. 5.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Infants and children will be dedicated to the Lord on Sunday as part of the worship celebration at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.

OLD UNION PRESBY

Members of the capital campaign committee will be recognized during this week's worship service at Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

Sunday is the last day to sign up for the 2006 Old Union bicentennial calendar.

The presbytery is sponsoring a training event for church office on Nov. 12. Information is available at the back of the church.

ST. JOHN'S REFORMED

Missionaries Don and Zoe Peffer will speak at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at St. John's Reformed Church, Route 68 and Meridian Road, Butler Township.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

Gregg Hartung, an evangelism and outreach specialist, will speak at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City. A brown bag luncheon and question-and-answer session will follow the 11 a.m. service in Fellowship Hall.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

The Reformation Festival will be celebrated this weekend at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St. Portions of the weekend services will be lead in German. The congregation is asked to wear red.

A new bulletin format will be introduced this weekend.

All Sunday school classes will meet in the Sanctuary for a presentation on Martin Luther. Activities will be available for young students.

A display honoring military personnel is being assembled. Photographs of military members with name, rank and other pertinent information are due to the church office by Sunday.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

The Order of St. Luke participants will be inducted as full members by Rev. Jeff Mackey of Trinity School for Ministry at the Sunday service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St. Some of the blessing that took place during the Healing Weekend also will be shared.

A series of pre-convention workshops will be held Nov. 4 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center. Information is available on the bulletin board.

The Guatemala Mission Group is sponsoring a breakfast buffet after the 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday Masses at St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia. An offering will be taken.

The Vigil Mass for All Saints Day will be held at 6 p.m. Monday. All Saints Day Masses will be held at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The ushers will hold an Evening of Reflection at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Reformation Sunday will be celebrated this weekend at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr. Holy Communion will be offered at the 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services.

Thirteen confirmands will affirm their Baptism at the 11 a.m. Sunday services.

A children's hour program will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for preschool-age children.

TRINITY PRESBY

The Rev. William Jamieson will be the guest speaker Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave.

The church rummage and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

A Veterans Day breakfast is planned to honor veterans and their families. Information will be published in the bulletin.

WEST SUNBURY U.P.

All Saints Day will be celebrated at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 East Church St., West Sunbury. The new chancel piano will be dedicated. Church members participating in the mission trip to Slidell, La., will also be recognized.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

All Saints Sunday will be observed this weekend at White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew. Church members who have died in the past year and those honored with memorial gifts to the church will be remembered. A reception will follow the 9:45 a.m. service.
