Joseph and Ruth Geiger of Valencia celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner and a family reunion.

The former Ruth Hayes married Geiger on Jan. 15, 1955, at St. Cyril of Alexandria Roman Catholic Church in Brighton Heights.

They have six children, Sandra Baker of West Deer; Joseph Geiger of Ingomar; Eric Geiger of Pittsburgh; Mark Geiger of Peachtree City, Ga.; Matthew Geiger of Butler; and Michael Geiger of Mars.

They also have nine grandchildren.

Geiger is a retired manager of the Emergency Power Department at Verizon. He served as a baseball coach for 18 years and as a church council member at St. Kilian Roman Catholic Parish in Mars for 10 years.

Mrs. Geiger is a homemaker and is retired from World Book Educational Products.

The couple belongs to St. Richard Roman Catholic Church in Gibsonia, where Mrs. Geiger is a member of Respect Life and Women's Group and serves as a school and church volunteer.
