Francis L. Snyder

Francis L. Snyder, 83, of Mercer died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday at Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness.

Born in Hillsville, Lawrence County, Sept. 28, 1921, he was the son of Chester Monroe Snyder and Mary G. Jamison Snyder.

He was a longtime Mercer area car salesman and had won numerous awards as a car salesman.

Mr. Snyder was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mercer.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy M. Huston Snyder, whom he married Sept. 2, 1941; two children, Linda L. Daley and F. Alan Snyder, both of Mercer; a sister Mary Montgomery of Forestville; and four brothers, John Roy Snyder of Mercer, Paul Snyder of Florida, Leo Snyder of Maryland and Richard Snyder of Allison Park. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

SNYDER - Friends of Francis L. Snyder, who died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mercer, with the Rev. James Kennelley officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.A wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
