Grove City bows to W&J
GROVE CITY - Chris Edwards threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns as Washington & Jefferson broke the game open in the second half to beat Grove City 37-14 on Saturday.
After allowing two touchdowns in the first half, including a 96-yard interception return, Washington & Jefferson (6-1, 2-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference) shut down Grove City (2-5, 3-1) in the third and fourth quarters.
After the Presidents scored on Aaron Krepps' 55-yard punt return, Grove City scored 14 unanswered points to take the lead. Bradford Clark scored on a 2-yard run and Clay Piper intercepted Chris Edwards' pass and ran it back 96 yards for the Wolverines.
But with less than a minute left, R.J. Zitzelsberger ran in from 2 yards for the Presidents to tie the game at halftime.
The second half belonged to the Presidents. Tom McCafferty caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Edwards in the third quarter and Ryan Church ran in from 4 yards early in the fourth quarter. After a Kyle Sidebotham 34-yard field goal, Zitzelsberger caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Edwards for the Presidents.
