Anthony M. Cavalero

Anthony M. Cavalero, 92, died early Tuesday at the Sunnyview Home in Butler.

He was born Oct. 21, 1912, in Butler, he was a son of Frank and Rose DeMaria Cavalero.

Mr. Cavalero had formerly worked as a meat cutter at the A&P store in Butler for 10 years. He then worked as a bartender at the Monroe Hotel where he was employed for 23 years before he retired in 1971.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army having served in the 8th Infantry. He was awarded an Honorary Plaque from France for his part in the liberation of France during the war.

Mr. Cavalero was also a volunteer at the Butler Veteran Affairs Medical Center with more than 300 hours.

He enjoyed sports, the outdoors, boating, bowling and baseball.

Mr. Cavalero is survived by one brother, Joseph Cavalero of Butler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

CAVALERO - Friends of Anthony Cavalero, who died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, will be received at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME201 E. Cunningham St. from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:35 a.m. Thursday at the church to recite the Rosary.
