Penn stage hosts murder mystery

The Penn Theater on Main Street will play host to the Butler County Community College Pioneer Players' original interactive show, "A Murder Mystery" at 8 p.m. tonight.

Audience members will be able to participate as they help the actors solve a foul crime.

The original production is a first of its kind for the BC3.

"

This is the first time we've done one of our productions off campus," said Maggie Stock, faculty adviser for the club.

In the production, students experience some technical difficulties, and while they believe the show must go on, their plans are derailed when they find themselves in the midst of a murder scene.

"The players have to deal with this incredible turn of events," Stock said.

Stock, who wrote the script for "A Murder Mystery" along with the help of BC3 students, explained that the production is part of a one-credit workshop at the college.

The course, Production Design Workshop, centers around the behind-the- scenes work involved with putting on a theatrical production.

Workshop students Mollie O'Donnell, Carrie Kasenter and Christina Kriley serve as director, technical director and producer, respectively, during the evening's events.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and are available at the Butler Symphony office until 2 p.m. today or by calling the Penn Theater at 724-287-7366 or BC3 at 724-287-7366, Ext. 8272.

The night of the show, ticket holders can receive a 10 percent discount at any of the following restaurants: Brick House, Natili North or South and Frisco's at the Day's Inn.
