Harry Glenn Pruett Jr.
Harry Glenn Pruett Jr., 82, of La Plata, Md., went home to his lord and savior on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at the Charles County Nursing Home in La Plata.
He was born July 16, 1923, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was the son of Harry Glenn Pruett Sr. and Tillie Mae Ice Pruett of Chattanooga.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia Keown Pruett, whom he married on Nov. 29, 1942; two daughters Glenda Smith of Butler, Mary Kay George of Maryland; a son, Harry Glenn Pruett III of Louisiana; a sister, Josephine Shipley of Chattanooga; three granddaughters; two grandsons and a great-grandchild on the way.
His sister, Helen R. Pruett, preceded him in death.
Harry was blessed by a rich and full life. He honorably served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. He was stationed in Okinawa during World War II.
With his advanced training in electronic engineering, he spent his civilian career at many engineering firms. He was one of the nation's foremost experts in ceramic capacitor design and engineering. He was formerly employed at DU-CO Ceramics in Saxonburg.
Serving God's Church as a deacon and trustee, he committed his life to the pursuit of God's will
He is remembered for his compassion and love of his family. No matter how long the hours at work, he found time to play with his children. He enjoyed backyard barbecues and fishing.
We will remember his stern but always loving discipline, his guidance, his smile and the twinkle in his eye. His memory is etched in our hearts forever.
