1:19 p.m. Thursday - Joanne Elphinstone, 53, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Hansen Avenue Elphinstone also is charged with driving too fast for conditions.

1:10 a.m. today - Nathan Johnson, 29, of Seven Fields was arrested for driving under the influence on Evans City Road. Johnson also is charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.

11:40 a.m. Thursday - Harry Bogan, 45, of Butler was arrested for drunk driving and numerous traffic offenses in connection with a pair of hit-and-run crashes in Butler Township.Police said Bogan drove off stop after the earlier collisions - one at Whitestown Road and Villa Drive and the other at Route 8 and McCalmont Road - that occurred between 10:48 and about 11:20 a.m.Other departments were called to look for the suspect's car and state police a short time later stopped Bogan on Anderson Road in Clinton Township.He is charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to give information or render aid following an accident, driving too fast for conditions, and a lane violation.7:40 a.m. Thursday - Two 17-year-old boys, who police did not identify, ran away from the Summit Academy on Herman Road in Summit Township. Both boys were caught about an hour later at Pine Road near Bonniebrook Road, and returned to the reform school.11:55 p.m. Wednesday - A car driven by Brian Saylor, 21, of Bruin went off Route 268 in Fairview Township and struck several cement steps. Saylor, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Wednesday - Police are investigating several burglaries, some of which could be connected, including three in eastern Butler County.Two of the break-ins were in Oakland Township - one at the Seven Hills Road home of Joan McClanahan where an undisclosed amount of money was taken, and the other at the Chicora Road home of Mark Bresnahan where about $15 in change was taken.About $10 was taken in another break-in at the Buena Vista Road home of Patrick Parsons in Fairview Township.Also on Wednesday, the Pleasant Valley Road home of Matthew Pyle in Muddy Creek Township was reported burglarized. Someone rummaged through drawers and cupboards; but police did not indicate if any property was taken.Meanwhile, police reported a 2002 Polaris all-terrain vehicle was taken in a burglary between Sept. 24 and Sunday at the Buena Vista Road home of Jennifer Osterling in Fairview Township. The ATV is red with white stripes.

2:30 a.m. Thursday - Raymond Barkey Jr., 21, of Volant was arrested for driving under the influence after his motorcycle crashed into a ditch on Irishtown Road near Clinton Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Barkey, who was not wearing a helmet, was treated for minor injuries at United Community Hospital in Grove City. In addition to DUI, he is charged with careless driving and driving too fast for conditions.
