Scoop looks to rebound from painful week

Ouch!

This crash was painful. From a perfect week to barely finishing above .500. This pigskin prognostication is more perplexing than I thought.

Now I know why they call them upsets - because I'm upset this happened.

Ah, well, time to make amends. Eagles are supposed to fly high and proud and I refuse to be grounded by one bad week.

Here's my take on Week 7:

Butler at Bethel Park -The Tornado always give the Blackhawks a run for their money, regardless of record. They will do so again, but expecting Butler to rebound from an overtime loss on the road against a team coming off a blowout loss to rival Upper St. Clair is asking a bit much. It's homecoming at Bethel and the fans there will be treated to a thrilling win.BETHEL PARK, 25-19

Seneca Valley at North Allegheny -There's no defense for a bad defense and the Raiders are drowning in that boat. They should score on the Tigers, but Seneca Valley just hasn't proven it can stop anybody.NORTH ALLEGHENY, 32-21

Franklin Regional at Knoch -The Panthers have a Division I-caliber quarterback to go with a running back who has nearly 900 yards rushing. The Knights simply can't match that productivity.FRANKLIN REGIONAL, 35-13

Moniteau at Bald Eagle -It's not easy to overcome my bias on this one. Bald Eagle's team is even called the Eagles … I feel like I'm betraying my brother. But myself, my brother and the Eagles defense can't stop Matt Schandelmeier and Adam Cousins.MONITEAU, 22-13

Mars at Shenango -A special Saturday night affair for the Planets, who keep getting better and develop new weapons each week. They will flex their muscles in an out-of-this-world performance.MARS, 43-11

Clarion at Karns City -Big win for the Gremlins at Redbank Valley last week, but now they're facing the best the Keystone-Shortway has to offer. Nobody's come close to Clarion yet, but the Bobcats will have to wait until the fourth quarter to put this one away.CLARION, 24-10

Slippery Rock at Mercer -Folks were wondering for a while if the hard-luck Rockets were ever going to win a game. They won one big at Greenville last week and that winning feeling will carry over.SLIPPERY ROCK, 21-10

Slippery Rock University at Indiana (Pa.) -It's been forever since these two rivals both had losing records when meeting each other. Both are coming off big PSAC West wins last week, but the Indians are starting 14 freshmen and The Rock has enough momentum to spoil their homecoming.SLIPPERY ROCK, 28-20My other selections: Freeport over Shady Side Academy, 22-8; Union over A-C Valley, 21-11; Summit Academy over Union (New Castle), 25-9; Grove City over Wilmington, 19-18; Thiel over Grove City College, 36-14Last week:7-6Overall:51-19
