Grenninger nets 6 to lead Karns City girls soccer win

Brittni Grenninger had six goals and an assist to lead the Karns City girls soccer team to a 9-0 shutout over Clarion Wednesday.

Brittney Angert, Nikki McElroy and Lauren Jewart had one goal each. Cristen Futcher had two assists while Adrienne Olszak, Julieanne Scott, Michelle Sweeney and Karissa Callender had one assist apiece.

Karns City (11-2, 8-0 in the KSAC) will play Freeport Saturday.

Mars 5, Highlands 0 -

Kaitlyn Angeletti scored two goals and Marci Dillner, Emma Bugel and Brittany Zaborowski one apiece for the Planets.

North Allegheny 3, Butler 0 -

The Tigers blanked the Tornado in this section matchup. Butler (9-4-1, 5-4-1) will host Mars Friday.

Slippery Rock 7, Wilmington 1

- Jence Rhoads scored three more goals and Kelsey Drennen and Melanie Prelec each added two more as the Rockets routed the Greyhounds.

Drennen also had an assist for Slippery Rock (12-4, 8-0) as did Britney Miller.

Slippery Rock 6, Sharon 0 -Mike Ramirez and Ryan Gercken scored two goals each for the Rockets (9-1-2), who earned their ninth shutout of the year Tuesday. Joe Bryan and Brandon Zarichnak split time in goal.Bryan and Zarichnak added a goal each for Slippery Rock, which travels to Commodore Perry today.Butler 1, Franklin Regional 0 -Doug Moran scored in the first half for the Golden Tornado (14-2, 6-2), Ben Horner drawing the assist. Zeke O'Donnell was the winning goaltender.Butler plays Tuesday at Pine-Richland.Karns City 2, Wilmington 1 -Chris Harmon and Dan Thuronyi each scored a goal while Josiah Grubbs and Mark Ferguson each had an assist in the Gremlins win.On Monday, Karns City (11-2-1 overall) tied Redbank Valley 2-2 despite two overtimes with a goal and assist by Aaron McGarvey and a goal by Ferguson. The Gremlins appeared to have won the game with one second left but the goal was overturned.The Gremlins will play at Brookville today.Seneca Valley 2, North Allegheny 1 -K.J. Gorman scored on a penalty kick in overtime for the Raiders (10-3, 8-1). North Allegheny had a 1-0 lead at halftime before Tyler Smith knotted the game in the second half.Seneca Valley hosts Knoch Saturday morning.

Knoch teammates Artie Black and Kyle Reeping crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 23 seconds to win the race as the Knights (13-1, 4-1) clinched a winning section record for the first time in the program's 18-year history.Knoch's boys defeated Shaler and Pine-Richland by 17-44 counts.
