Mary Hoffman of Butler celebrated her 90th birthday with a family dinner and surprise party recently at Sunnyview Home.

The former Mary Mackalica was born Oct. 5, 1915, in McKees Rocks. She married Harry Hoffman on Nov. 18, 1953. He is deceased.

She has six nieces and nephews in Butler County, John Mackalica of Boyers, Paul Mackalica of Valencia and James Mackalica, Joseph Mackalica, Charles Mackalica and Mary Beth Mackalica, all of Butler. A number of other nieces and nephews reside in New Jersey.

Mrs. Hoffman is a former nursing assistant and homemaker. She belongs to the Chicora Moose Auxiliary and is an avid card player.

She is a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Sugarcreek and St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.
