Rock takes PSAC lead

Gary Saunders scored the game's only goal three minutes into overtime to give the Sliipery Rock University men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over East Stroudsburg Saturday.

Justin Hollm was credited with the assist for SRU (6-5-1, 5-3-1) and moved the team atop the PSAC standings over East Stroudsburg (5-4) and California (Pa.) (5-4).

Chris Cook recorded three saves for his third consecutive shutout and fourth overall.

The Rock captured the Clarion Invitational as it dispatched Anderson 30-25, 30-20, 30-22 then Lees-McRae 30-20, 30-23, 27-30, 30-27.Anastasia Urbanik had 52 kills, 11 blocks and five aces; Louise Schultz 27 kills and nine blocks and Jen Blasko 30 kills to lead the way.Grove City High graduate Gwen Oberlin added 40 digs for SRU (18-5, 2-2).

Oliver Horrigan had five goals, Arseni Grokhovski four goals and Glenn Reepmeyer recorded 19 saves to lead The Rock (13-3) to a 12-10 victory over Washington & Jefferson College.

Meghan McGrath scored two goals and assisted on The Rock's third goal Sunday in a 3-2 win over Bloomsburg.Danielle Cooper assisted on McGrath's first goal and Sarah Mangiarelli scored the goal on McGrath's assist for SRU (6-2-2).

Sophomore fullback Matt Weil rushed for a career-high 163 yards on 31 carries and added a 7-yard scoring run to help Grove City College (2-3, 1-1) defeat Bethany College 21-12 on Saturday.The Fombell native was named Presidents' Athletic Conference offensive player of the Week.
