Black helps Knoch to 3rd-place finish

Artie Black finished in second place to help the Knoch boys cross country team place third overall in the Central Catholic Invitational Division A race at Schenley Park Saturday.

Black finished with a time of 16 minutes, 18 seconds, seven seconds behind winner Scott Van Kooten and five seconds ahead of Dario Donatelli, both of Central Catholic.

North Allegheny won the boys race with 88 points, followed by Central Catholic (108) and Knoch (149). There were 25 teams involved in the Division A race.

Freeport's Brendan Reilly placed 10th in the race with a time of 16:46.

In the girls Division B race, Freeport (120) placed third behind Punxsutawney (75) and Greensburg Central Catholic (77).

The Yellowjackets were led by Melanie Lutz, who finished seventh with a time of 20:49. Knoch, place ninth in the race. Amber Wilks led the Knights with a 23rd-place finish.

Mars' Cody Kier placed fifth overall in the boys Division B race with a time of 17:08. Canon-McMillan won the boys Division B race and Latrobe won the Division A girls race, edging North Allegheny.
