RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Rev. Barry Mohney will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

Pal-Paks are currently being collected for victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Each kit contains two composition notebooks, 10 number two pencils, 10 black pens, a pair of blunt-nosed scissors, a hand-held pencil sharpener, a pink eraser, two six-inch rulers and a package of 12 to 15 colored pencils. Bags for donations are available at the church.

A fall hayride will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Schramm's Farm Market, Crisswell Road. Cost is $5 per person. A sign-up sheet for reservations and for the hot dog roast has been posted at the church.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

World Communion will be celebrated during weekend worship services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road.

The youth group is collecting items for the Hurricane Disaster Health Kits. A list of needed sundry items is in the church bulletin, or prepared kits may be purchased for $12.

Souvenir items for the 40th anniversary are on display in the narthex. Order forms and payment should be returned to the church office by Oct 16.

The food item being collected for October is cereal.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Choir practice begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave. This is a new night.

Special music on Sunday will be provided by the Tom Walker Family.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, the women of the church will begin an eight-week study of the book "The Four Great Loves." To register, call the church.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at the Sunday worship service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., for World Wide Communion Sunday.

Andrew Colvin, professor of philosophy at Slippery Rock University, will lead the Seekers Class on Sunday. The class meets at 9:45 a.m. in the Assembly Room.

The Covenant Cupboard Food Bank is requesting donations of soda crackers or graham crackers for October. Baskets for the donations are in the front hallway.

FAITH U.P.

The Kids Club at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St., will begin Wednesday. The program is open to residents of Meadowbrook Apartments in grades one through six. The church van will pick up children at 6:45 p.m. at Meadowbrook and will return at 8 p.m.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Women's Missionary Fellowship of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., has elected its officers for the year. The president is Erma Desmond and the vice president is Alice Stamm. The secretary/treasurer is Evelyn Grooms, and Carol Stamm will serve as project coordinator. The group will meet at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Baptist Youth Center. FIRST U.M.

The FROGS group at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will meet for a game night from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

World Wide Communion will be observed at all weekend services.

Stephen Ministry Trainees will meet for training at 7 p.m. Monday in the Bridal Room and Conference Room.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

World Wide Communion will be celebrated during the Sunday services at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

The senior youth group will hold its first meeting after the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

GLADE RUN U.P.

World Communion Sunday will be observed at both services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia. Communion will also be administered to shut-ins.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

The Faith Shapers youth group at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will meet for miniature golf and a movie at 6 p.m. Friday. Participants can be picked up at the church at 10 p.m. Cost is $5.

A Bible study on the topic "Love" will begin meeting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at King's Restaurant, New Castle Road.

Confirmation classes for students in grades 6 and 7 will begin Tuesday. Classes will be held from 6:45 to 8 p.m. A second class will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturdays beginning Oct. 8.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

Sunday morning services will resume this week at GraceWay Community Church, Butler Days Inn, Heritage Room.

HILL U.P.

World Wide Communion will be celebrated and the Peacemaking Offering received at the 6 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

The chancel choir and instrumental ensemble will perform at the Sunday service.

The Praise Team is currently recruiting additional members for the Saturday service. Practice for teens adults will be held from 6 to 6:45 p.m.Wednesdays.

Kids Club will begin Wednesday for children age 3 through grade four. Sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will include music, Bible study, recreation and crafts. Meals will be provided. The youth chorale will begin practices at noon Sunday in preparation for their spring trip to New York City.

MUDDY CREEK U.P.

There will be no Sunday morning service this week at Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church. A joint service, celebrating World Communion Sunday, will be held at 11 a.m. at Unionville United Presbyterian Church, 1112 Sunset Drive. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Muddy Creek. Adult classes will meet at 8:30 a.m.

A men's prayer breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at King's Restaurant on New Castle Road.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

World Communion Sunday and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be observed Sunday at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.

Operation Christmas Child will kickoff on Sunday. Persons are asked to pack a shoebox with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and candies, books and other items that would be welcomed gifts for children ages 2 to 14. The boxes will be collected Nov. 13 for shipment around the world.

FaithWeaver Friends LIFE Home Group for children in grades 2 through 5 will meet Oct. 11. The group will meet at the home of Pam Huber, 6569 Old Route 8 North, Valencia. Contact group leader, Mrs. Huber, at 724-586-5518 for details.

The Fisherman Gospel Quartet will present a praise and worship performance at 7 p.m. Oct. 9.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

World Communion Sunday will be observed at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext.

The youth group will meet at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday in Fellowship Hall for a service project.

OLD UNION PRESBY

World Communion will be celebrated during worship on Sunday at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

PARK U.P.

World Communion Sunday will be celebrated Sunday at Park United Presbyterian Church, Grandview Avenue, Zelienople. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Ben Mathes.

The church will lead children's activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 during the Zelienople Borough's Fall Festival.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

ST. JOHN'S REFORMED

A meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday for members and visitors who would like to help plant new perennial gardens at the third level entrance.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

Blood pressure screening will be held before the 6 p.m. Saturday service at the Birch Street entrance to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St. A screening will also be held from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

Cookies are needed for care packages for college students and service people. Care packages will be packed on Oct. 17.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

Christian Formation for adults begins at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the Guild Room at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St.

The Order of St. Luke's will now provide prayer teams at the altar following the late service for those who want prayer. All are invited to the communion rail after the recessional hymn.

A book study on Christian healing will be held at 8 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month beginning Oct. 5.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The Rev. Fred Byrne, O.S.B., will present a Bible study on the Gospel of St. Matthew from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia.

The Worship Committee will meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

A Mass of Healing for Charismatics will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7. Members of the Prayer Group will be available following the Mass for a time of personal prayers.

TRINITY PRESBY

World Wide Communion will be observed with the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper during the Sunday service at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. The guest minister will be the Rev. Donn Ed.

The Ruth Circle will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at King's Restaurant for lunch. The group will then return to the church for Bible study.

Donations are now being collected for a rummage sale to be held Oct. 29.

VALENCIA PRESBY

World Communion Sunday will be celebrated with the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper at the Sunday service at Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia

LOGOS Kid's Club, an after-school program for area youth in grades one through 12 meets from 3 to 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the church. Transportation will be arranged.

Primetimers, an adult small group study, will meet at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday beginning Oct. 4.

Mom's Morning Out will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays beginning this week. Childcare is available.

Beginning Oct. 8, Parents' Night Out will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Child care for ages newborn to 10 will be provided.

Making Love Last A Lifetime, an eight-week sermon series, will start Oct. 9. It is coupled with an optional adult smalI group study that will be held at 7 p.m. Thursdays beginning Oct. 13.

WEST SUNBURY U.P.

World Communion will be observed at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 East Church St., West Sunbury.

The Ministry Center is in need of a dehumidifier for the basement.

World Communion Sunday will be observed at the 9:45 a.m. Sunday service at White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew. A peacemaking offering will also be received.

The annual church fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and will feature a flea market, crafts, bake sale and Chinese auction. Lunch items will be available.

ZION LUTHERAN
