Butler still undefeated after 4-1 win

Ben Horner, Ryan Armahizer and K.J. Ludlum each scored a goal and added an assist as the Butler boys soccer team defeated Pine-Richland 4-1 Saturday, moving the Golden Tornado's record to 9-0.

Wade Grubbs also scored for the Golden Tornado, who took a 3-0 lead by halftime.

Armahizer's goal, off a rebound, upped the count to 4-0 before Matt Hickey scored the Rams' lone goal.

Knoch 2, Burrell 1(OT) -

Scott Herman's overtime goal gave the Knights this win over the Bucs. Also scoring in the win was Buddy Carr.

Northeast 2, Grove City 1 (OT) -

Scoring the Eagles' lone goal was Mark Stein.

Seneca Valley 1, Shaler 0 -

Kevin Miller scored the Raiders' lone goal, assisted by Bobby Albrecht.

North Allegheny 3, Butler 1 -Becca Crissman scored the lone goal for the Golden Tornado (5-2, 2-2), which will travel to Shaler tonight.Karns City 4, DuBois 2 -Brittni Grenninger scored three goals and teammates Lauren Jewart (goal), Christina Endlish (two assists) and Allyson Kepple (assist) did their part against the Beavers.Mars 4, Slippery Rock 0-The Planets (7-1-1) received goals from four players: Emma Bugel, Megan Eidenshink, Angela Higgins and Glennis Robash.Mars goal keeper Stephanie Romanias tallied her sixth shutout this season.Slippery Rock 2, Gateway 1 (OT) -Elisa McCune scored in regulation before teammate Jence Rhoads won it for the Rockets (6-4) in overtime.Brittney Miller added two assists in the victory.

Karns City junior Travis Hendell placed seventh out of 247 Class AA competitors at the Slippery Rock Cross Country Invitational Saturday.Hendell finished the course with a time of 17 minutes, 34 seconds. Summit Academy's chance for a Tri-County North win slipped away when Earl Zarpeles' pass was intercepted in Neshannock's end zone with 1:30 left in the game, as the Lancers held on for a 13-12 win Saturday afternoon.The Knights (1-3, 0-2) outgained the Lancers 341-232, but 10 penalties worth 100 yards kept them from translating the yards into enough points.Brad Walker led the Knights' effort with 117 yards rushing on just 13 carries, scoring on a 50-yard run in the final period.Kasil Butler added three receptions for 75 yards in the loss.Summit Academy will travel to Mars for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday night.
