Reynolds breaks GC win streak
Jake McBride rushed for 205 yards and a touchdown to lead undefeated Reynolds to a 19-12 high school football victory over Grove City Friday night.
The loss snapped the Eagles' nine-game regular season winning streak, dating back to last season.
Richie Burnworth added 80 yards rushing for Reynolds, which ran for 296 as a team. Brandon Wolfe threw an 18-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 1-yard run.
Grove City quarterback Jesse Alfreno completed 13 of 22 passes for 213 yards. Chris Clark scored both Eagle touchdowns on runs of 20 yards and one yard.
Kittanning 46, Freeport 27 -
This game was delayed by lightning, but Kittanning scored 39 points in the first half and was never threatened the rest of the way.
Freeport quarterback Bryan Zimmerman threw touchdown passes of 39 and 62 yards to Josh Shreckengost and scored himself on a 2-yard run for the Yellowjackets (1-3).
Kittanning returned a fumble and an interception for touchdowns, and quarterback Colin McKelbey threw touchdown tosses of 45 yards to Jared Bowser and 58 yards to Chad Zeoran.
Keystone 40, Union 6 -
Colby Davis scored on a 51-yard run in the third quarter for the Golden Knights' lone touchdown. He had nine carries for 106 yards and Colton Davis added 13 carries for 84 yards.
Keystone rolled up 383 yards of total offense on Union (0-3). Mike Switzer threw for 103 yards and rushed for 96 for the Panthers (1-2).
Slippery Rock 7, Franklin 0 -The Rockets (4-0-1) recorded their fourth consecutive shutout Thursday as Franklin was unable to register a shot on goal.Min Woo Chung scored two goals while Sean Gercken, Matt Durso, Dusty Hribal, Ryan Gerken and Mike Ramirez added one each.Slippery Rock hosts Titusville Tuesday.
Mars 21, Fort Cherry 42 (girls); Mars 20, Fort Cherry 43 (boys) -Brittany Zaborowski won the girls race Thursday for the Planets (4-2, 1-1), while Cody Kier finished second in the boys race for Mars (3-3, 1-1).Courtney Moran, Chloe Pierre, Amara Czech-Thompson and Beth Pecora finished second through fifth for the Mars girls while Devin Howes, Justin Stadelmyer, Alex Kokkinakis and Jon Randza finished third through sixth for the Mars boys.
