BUTLER TWP - Butler County Community College has been awarded a $24,800 federal grant to train emergency personnel in responses to bio terrorism.
The college is now an official regional training center of the Centers for Public Health Preparedness, according to a BC3 news release.
"Not only will these funds assist in purchasing advanced equipment and training materials, but they also provide BC3 the ability to collaborate among a national network of public health training providers to bring advanced training to our region," said Stephen Catt, author of the grant and the BC3 director of development, in
the
news release.
"We will also bring police, fire, medical technicians and industry workers together in joint training sessions that will improve overall response to these complex emergencies."

PITTSBURGH - Grocery distributor Supervalu Inc. plans to sell 20 Pittsburgh-area Shop 'n Save stores, most likely to independent operators who already run 55 Shop 'n Save stores in the region.Minneapolis-based Supervalu announced those plans Tuesday as part of its second-quarter earnings forecast. Supervalu said earnings per share will likely range from 48 to 50 cents per share, not counting charges the company will take for selling the Pittsburgh-area stores. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial had forecasts second-quarter earnings of 57 cents.
WARRENDALE - American Eagle Outfitters Inc.'s board of directors has authorized an additional 2.1 million shares for its repurchase program. The company had 1.4 million shares remaining under its current repurchase program.The board also declared a quarterly cash dividend of 7.5 cents per share payable Oct. 7 to shareholders of record on Sept. 23."In light of our substantial cash balance and strong free cash flow, we are pleased to provide additional value to shareholders through a combination of share repurchases and cash dividend payments," CEO Jim O'Donnell said.
