Clara Belle Miller
Clara Belle Miller, 83, of Chicora died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday after a short stay at Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.
Born Aug. 21, 1921, in Falls Creek, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Charles Ernest and Ruth Williams Smith.
She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and very active in the Friendly Bible Class, the 3 T's, the Fellowship Committee, the Helping Hands and the Deborah Circle of the church. She also had delivered Meals on Wheels with her husband and was active in Butler County Extension programs and 4-H clubs.
She enjoyed bowling, quilting, flowers, baking, reading, square dancing and gardening.
Mrs. Miller had retired as a baker at Friedman's Market after 30 years. She also had worked at B.F. Goodrich in DuBois and Isaly's in Butler.
Surviving are her husband, Alex F. Miller, whom she married Feb. 26, 1938; three daughters and their husbands, Janet and David McClain of Clarks Summit, Lackawanna County and Nancy and Donald Mackey and Carol and David Landis, all of Butler; seven grandchildren, Gregory Miller, Alex William Miller Neidich, Sharon Martin, Mark McClain, Lori George, Melissa Ola and Christopher Landis; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by a brother and his wife, John and Chico Smith of Poway, Calif.; four sisters, Jean Taube and Mrs. Barney (Mary) Buzzard, both of Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, Mrs. Glenn (Arlene) Perrin of Johnstown and Ruth Cooper of Falls Creek.
She was preceded in death by a son, Harry David Miller, who died in 1997; three brothers; and two sisters.
MILLER - Friends of Clara Belle Miller, who died Sunday, July 31, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with retired pastor, the Rev. Larry Camberg of Ford City, officiating.
