George Sr. and Mary Rodgers of Butler celebrate 55 years of marriage today. A family dinner is planned in their honor.

The former Mary Hays married Rodgers on Aug. 30, 1950, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Cumberland, Md.

They have six children, Linda Young, Lisa Rodgers and George Rodgers Jr., all of Butler; Carol Rodgers and David Rodgers Sr., both of Chicora; and Bonnie Bane of Sugar Creek.

They also have 17 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter.

Rodgers is retired from Kar Kare in Lyndora. He is a life member of the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department.

Mrs. Rodgers is retired from Old Plank Estates. She enjoys playing bingo.

The couple belongs to St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church.
