NORD-EICHENRIED, Germany - David Howell won his first title in six years, shooting a 7-under 65 to hold off John Daly by a stroke at the BMW International Open.

Daly closed with a 64 and missed a 6-foot birdie attempt on the last hole that would have caught the Ryder Cup player.

Howell finished at 23-under 265 on one of the European tour's easiest courses. Daly and Brett Rumford (65) shared second, and Niclas Fasth (64) and Soren Kjeldsen (66) were at 267.

ALOHA, Ore. - Loren Roberts bogeyed the second playoff hole but still won The Tradition, beating Dana Quigley, who double-bogeyed the par-4 and failed again to win his first major.Quigley's 31/2-foot putt for bogey on No. 17 at the Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club lipped out. He shot a 4-under 68 to finish 72 holes at 15-under 273, while Roberts made birdie putts on the final two holes for a 67.Gil Morgan missed a birdie putt on the final hole and finished at 14 under. Mark James (68) was another stroke back.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - James Blake beat Feliciano Lopez 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 on Sunday, completing an improbable run from unseeded challenger to champion of the Pilot Pen tournament in front of a hometown crowd.

SONOMA, Calif. - Tony Kanaan didn't have a fence to climb or bricks to kiss like some winning drivers, so he dropped and did pushups on Sunday to celebrate his victory at the Argent Mortgage Indy Grand Prix at Infineon Raceway.Kanaan trailed teammate and IndyCar points leader Dan Wheldon on Sunday until Wheldon's fuel pump broke on the 53rd of 80 laps and he took the lead for good.Kanaan beat Buddy Rice by 1.182 seconds - about eight car-lengths - for his second IRL IndyCar win of the season.

MONTREAL - Oriol Servia was handed his first Champ Car victory Sunday when series officials ordered rookie Timo Glock to let him pass on the final lap of the Montreal Molson Indy race.Glock, whose best previous finish in nine races this season was sixth, found himself in the lead late in the 79-lap race and tried desperately to hold onto the top spot, twice blocking Servia's Newman/Haas Racing Lola as the two nearly bumped.He was warned by Champ Car officials following the first of those blocks on the final turn of lap 69, but did it again in the same spot on lap 76 when Servia got alongside and appeared set to take the lead.

The Butler County Community College women's volleyball team finished in second place over the weekend at the Corning Community College (NY) Tournament.The Pioneers defeated four other teams on their way to the title match, where they dropped a 2-0 decision to Genesee County Community College (NY).The Pioneers (4-1) were led by Autumn Burke (38 kills), Katherine Smith (30 kills), Krista Ebner (26 kills) and Tawnie Osborne (94 assists).The BC3 fall baseball team split a double-header with Penn State-Fayette Sunday afternoon, losing the first game 3-2 before prevailing 6-2 in the second game.John Lefevre collected two hits in the defeat, as Nathan Kurtz picked up the loss after striking out one and walking one in two innings pitched.Lefevre took the mound in Game 2, striking out four and walking just one in six innings of work for the win.Shannon Nagel hit a two-run home run for the Pioneers, Joe Ference tripled and had two RBI and Kolby Gregory tallied two base hits.

Butler's John Aubrey, Sr. finished tied for fourth place at the Tri-State PGA Section Senior Championship last Friday with a final score of 145.Aubrey managed a 73 in Thursday's first round and a 72 on Friday.Ron Milanovich, of St. Jude Golf Club, also had a 145 after shooting a 70 and 75.Both golfers qualified for the 2005 Senior CPC Championship, to be played Oct. 20-23.
