Jim and Doris Feyrer of Cranberry Township celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with an open house at Mars Alliance Church.

The former Doris VanHousen married Feyrer on Aug. 13, 1955, at First Baptist Church in Wilson, N.Y.

They have five children, Jim Feyrer of Elizabeth City, N.C.; Dave Feyrer of Butler; Dan Feyrer of Allison Park; Doreen Whitstone of Roslyn; and Carole Kelly of Valencia.

They also have 12 grandchildren.

Feyrer retired after working for 45 years as a structural engineer with the American Bridge Division of U.S. Steel and Metso Minerals. He is a member of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale.

Mrs. Feyrer is retired from Seneca Valley School District, where she worked for 15 years in food service.

The couple belongs to Mars Alliance Church, where Feyrer is an elder, Sunday school teacher and member of the Alliance Men. Mrs. Feyrer is a member of the Alliance Women and also serves as the church kitchen coordinator. The couple also participates in the church choir.
