Safety, excavation demonstrations set

A new event promoting workplace safety, including damage prevention and sound excavation techniques, is scheduled for next month at the Cranberry Township Public Works Facility.

The event will begin at 7 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. Sept. 29. Anyone concerned with earth moving, construction or damage prevention should attend this event.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to talk to officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Labor and Industry.

There will also be a 1928 Cat 30 bulldozer, fire trucks, a 1928 pumper and a medical helicopter on display. Blood pressure screenings, a free hearing test and an opportunity to run a backhoe will also be available.

Demonstrations scheduled throughout the day will include: trench shoring, soft evacuation technology, trench box installation, trench rescue, confined space entry, gas and electrical safety and first aid.

There is no fee for the event. A free excavation guide will be given out at registration.

Register online at www.paonecall.org or call 800-248-1786, Ext. 7136.
