Alton and Dorothy Phipps of East Butler will celebrate 65 years of marriage with a family dinner later this month.

The former Dorothy Sweet married Phipps on Aug. 9, 1940, at Highland Park Church of God in San Antonio.

They have a son, A.C. Phipps of Troy, Mich. They also have a grandson.

Phipps is retired from City Public Service in San Antonio.

The couple belongs to North Main St. Church of God.
