Fred E. Michael

Fred E. Michael, 72, of Oakland Avenue died Saturday at his home.

Born Jan. 17, 1933, in North Washington, he was the son of Charles R. and Frances M. Sinz Michael.

Mr. Michael was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher, member of the church council and former treasurer.

He was a certified public accountant and retired as a partner in the firm of Carbis Walker and Associates. He was a member of the firm for more than 30 years.

He was a 1952 graduate of Robert Morris College, a member of The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

He was a member of the Butler Elks Club, Brady Paul Lodge F.O.P., and a member of Rotary International and past president of the Butler Rotary Club.

He was a former member and past president of the Moraine Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in 1983.

He was a former member of the legislative committee of the Butler Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Salvation Army advisory board, a former member and past president of the Butler County Easter Seal Society, a former member of the Butler County Law Enforcement Association and a former United Way campaign volunteer. He was a member of the White House Conference for Small Business in 1986.

He was a former member of the Butler Country Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Korean War, when he served in Germany.

He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Field, whom he married July 27, 1957; two brothers, Robert C. Michael and his wife, Judy, and David L. Michael and his wife, Frances, all of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Paul J. (Florence J.) Thompson of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Michael of England; seven nieces and five nephews. Also surviving are an uncle, three aunts and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a niece.

MICHAEL - Friends and family of Fred Michael, who died Saturday, July 2, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, with the Rev. Thomas Pierotti officiating.Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
