Winifred Kennedy celebrated her 85th birthday recently with a surprise family picnic at Moraine State Park.

The former Winifred Beatty was born July 27, 1920, in Butler. She married Anthony Kennedy. He is deceased.

She has four children, Dale Kennedy and LuAnn Cherry, both of Butler; David Kennedy of Melbourne, Fla.; and Douglas Kennedy of East Butler. She also has five grandchildren.

Mrs. Kennedy is a member of the East Butler Presbyterian Church.

She enjoys cooking, gardening and watching sporting events.
