RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Members of the flood disaster mission team will be commissioned during weekend worship services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. The team will leave for Carnegie to repair homes damaged last September's floods.

Tickets are available for the United Methodist Center for Hope Night at PNC Park, where the Pirates will host the Cincinnati Reds at 7:05 p.m. Aug. 28. Tickets are $16 for reserved outfield seats or $9 for general admission bleacher seats. A sign-up sheet is in the narthex.

CHRISTIAN PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Jeff Book, a missionary serving in China, will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Christian Praise and Worship Church, Route 68, Bradys Bend. Book will provide insight into what is currently taking place in the mission field in China. There will be time for questions and answers. A tureen luncheon will follow the service in the church social room.

The weekly Bible Exploration Group will resume meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Fitness classes for women are now being held at 9 a.m. Thursdays.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Rev. William Jamieson will be the guest preacher at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

The "Noisy Offering" of change will be received during the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

Summer day trips are planned to the East Liberty Presbyterian Church Taize worship service in Pittsburgh; the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellport; the Villa Maria Retreat, east of Youngstown; the Rodef Shalom Synagogue, Pittsburgh; the S-V Hindu Temple, Penn Hills; and the Beulah Land Spiritual Retreat Center, Petrolia. Sign-up sheets are in the Assembly Room.

FIRST BAPTIST

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, youth in grades seven through 12 from First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will participate in Awesome Alameda Day at Alameda Park. Lunch will be provided.

Sunday will be Friend Day and congregants are to take friends to the 11 a.m. service. A luncheon will follow in the church social rooms. An afternoon service, which will replace the 6 p.m. service, will follow the luncheon.

GLADE RUN U.P.

The Middle School students of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will leave Monday on a youth trip to The Great Escape in Johnstown.

A new choir will be forming this fall. The Passionate Praise Choir is a short-term choir that will meet at 6:30 p.m. every other Thursday from September through December and provide music for the second service and special occasions ending with Christmas Eve. Call 724-538-9817 for information.

An open house will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Sunday at Boaz House, the new location of the Food Bank and Clothing Place. It is on the north side of the church across the parking lot. The Food Bank is looking for volunteers to assist with the move to the new location.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

In preparation for the sewer line replacement, the property committee of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will host an outside work day beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

Kelly Leggens, of the local Christian group Clockwise Scarlett, will provide music at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service at GraceWay Community Church, Butler Days Inn, Heritage Room.

Youth members are reminded that the God Stock Family Festival is Aug. 5 through 7.

GraceWay youth will also be selling corn from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Days Inn parking, Route 8. The cost is $4 per dozen. To order ahead, call 724-283-1482.

HILL U.P.

Church and neighborhood youth will present the musical drama "Holy Moses" at 6 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. Admission is free.

The Deacons will host a luncheon immediately following the musical Sunday. Participants with last names beginning with the letters A through L should take desserts and those beginning with M through Z should take salads to share. The Deacons will provide the main course.

Nearly new clothing is needed for the Back to School Clothing Sale on August 5 and 6. Donations can be taken to the church at any time. For information, contact Debi Kruger.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

The adult Sunday school class at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch Senior High School, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will not meet on Sunday.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

The interim youth staff and the pulpit committee of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will have a combined meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Whitehall Conference Center, Emlenton.

The Western Pennsylvania Church of God Campmeeting will be held Saturday through Aug. 7 at Whitehall Camp, Emlenton. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Moss of First Church of God in St. Joseph, Mich. The Rev. Melissa Pratt of Dayspring Church of God, Cincinnati, will lead music and worship. Services will begin at 7:15 p.m. daily in the auditorium. The Sunday evening service will be at 6:15 p.m. and will be a Concert of Worship performed by Christian recording artist, Brent Henderson. Rick King of CHOSEN, one of the church missions, will be the a guest minister at the Sunday service at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

Parishioners of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., are reminded to sign up for the Healing Weekend to be held Aug. 19 to 21. Forms are due Aug. 5.

The Guatemala Mission Group of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will sponsor a pig roast from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children younger than 4.

Members of the Pine-Richland football team will receive a blessing after the 5 p.m. Mass on Aug. 6.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Planning for the "No Excuse Sunday" and church picnic on Aug. 28 will be held this week at Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury. Planning will be held after the 9 a.m. Sunday service.

TRINITY PRESBY

Tom McMeekin will be the guest speaker Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. Music will be provided by Missy Hamilton.

The Ruth Circle will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church to carpool to the Wolf Creek School Cafe in Slippery Rock.

There will be no Care and Evangelism Team meeting in August.

VALENCIA PRESBY
