Ardelle McMilIen Reed

Ardelle McMillen Reed, 77, of Cedar Bluff, Va., died Friday.

She was a native of Evans City, attended Kutztown College and graduated from Duffs-Iron City College.

In 1951, she married Vernon J. Reed of Slippery Rock, and then lived in Lyndhurst, Ohio, until 1980. She was a Girl Scout leader for more than 10 years and volunteer for numerous organizations.

Mrs. Reed was a member of the Eastern Star and the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. She served as regent of the NSDAR Fort Maiden Spring Chapter in Tazewell, Va., and as District IV director of NSDAR Virginia. She was an avid genealogist and compiled the "Wahl Ancestors, Descendants & Related Families" in 1982.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol and Louis Short of Raven, Va., Deborah Reed of Parker, Colo., and Lisa and Ken Lloyd of Lakewood, Colo.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild. Also surviving are a brother, Dean R. McMillen and his wife, Mary Belle, of Evans City, three nephews; and a niece.

REED - Friends of Ardelle McMillen Reed, who died Friday, June 17, 2005, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at KINSEY-VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, Evans City. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NSDAR, P.O. Box 98286, Washington, D.C., 20090; the Western Pennsylvania Historical Society; or to Evans City Library for books on tape.
