RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Rev. Barry Mohney will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

The Caravan Kids Club will hold its family day at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moraine State Park. Participants should take a picnic lunch and drinks. Biking, swimming, fishing, canoeing and playground activities will be available.

The Senior Adult Ministry will host a Let's Go Ducking to Pittsburgh trip on Monday. The van will leave the church at 11:30 a.m. For information, call Darlene Johns at 724-538-9342.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The summer choir will provide music for the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. Members planning to sing with the choir should meet at 9:30 a.m. in the choir room.

The annual church picnic will be held beginning at noon Sunday in the Pine Picnic Shelter at Alameda Park. Reservations should be called in to the church office. Families should take a covered dish salad, snack, or dessert to share. Grilled chicken, hot dogs, soft drinks, and table service will be provided.

New Butler district superintendent, the Rev. Dean Ziegler, will be installed during a worship service of celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church. Members are invited to attend. Refreshments will follow.

The Flood Recovery Mission Team will be repairing homes in the Carnegie area damaged by floods last fall. Members participating should contact Don Kennedy or Don Loomis by Sunday for housing arrangements. Work has been scheduled for July 29 through Aug. 5. Volunteers may attend on a daily basis if unable to assist the entire week

CHRIST OUTREACH

Marilyn Leasure will provide music for the Sunday service at Christ Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave.

The Pittsburgh District NMI Convention will be held July 29 at the Mount Chestnut District Center. The scheduled missionary speaker will be Dr. David Miller, missionary to the Sudan in Africa.

Those attending the annual trip to Eracers are to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church. They will return at 9 p.m. The cost is $7 for two hours of unlimited use of all the rides and golf course. Contact Don Hixon for a permission slip.

Kennywood Day will be held Aug. 1. Those attending should meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. and will return at midnight. The cost is $10, which includes entry to the park. Participants should take additional money for meals. Contact Don Hixon for a permission slip.

COMMUNITY ALLIANCE

The Rev. Joel Bubna, a missionary to Mali, will lead the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. services Sunday at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road.

The church will host a car and motorcycle cruise at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will include music and food.

COVENANT PRESBY

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

Tickets for the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater production of "Murder, Mayhem, and Marshmallow Salad" are available at the church office. Dee Demby directs the drama, which begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 in the Assembly Room. The cost is $8.

The departure time for the Aug. 14 trip to Chautauqua Institution has been changed to 7 a.m. from the church parking lot.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

A fellowship picnic will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive. Participants should take a picnic-style food and a drink to share and outdoor or board games.

Jim Ishler of Tunisia will speak at the Sunday evening service. A Tunisian meal served by Houtef Ishler will be held at 5 p.m. in the lower level. Participants should take a dessert to share. Reservations are requested.

FAITH U.P.

The teens and preteens of Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Ext., will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28 to assemble school kits for the Church World Service. Lunch will be served.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will be among congregations represented Monday through July 29 in soccer and basketball team camps, along with a wilderness camp program, at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Monday at the camp.

The church will host its annual Sunday school picnic at 1 p.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. Each family attending should take meat for their family and table service. Those whose last name begins with A through L should take a casserole to share; and those with M through Z are to take a dessert to share. Beverages and rolls will be provided. Softball and children's games will take place during the afternoon.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

A hymn sing will be held at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

FIRST U.M.

First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will hold its church picnic from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Alameda Park.

The family camp will be held Sunday through July 30 at Jumonville. Pastor Dave will be the key speaker.

GLADE RUN U.P.

The Rev. William Jamieson will be the guest speaker at the Sunday services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia,

A meeting for all students going on the middle school trip will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Wild Wacky Wednesday, for students in first through fifth grades, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. To sign up, call the church office or 724-898-1016.

An old-fashioned, country-western fun day will be held Saturday, rain or shine.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

Communion will be offered at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service at GraceWay Community Church, Butler Days Inn, Heritage Room. Lauran Gillespie will provide music for the service.

Volunteers are needed to serve as food vendors during the Butler Fall Festival on Sept. 17.

HARVEST ASSEMBLY

Don Larva will be the guest speaker at the Sunday service at Harvest Assembly of God, 160 Brownsdale Road.

MERIDIAN U.P.

Communion will be served at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBY

The Laughlin family will visit Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422, at 7 p.m. Sunday to discuss their missionary work in Mucha Agwa in the Dominican Republic. Mission opportunities for the spring of 2006 will also be discussed.

Members of the Junior and Senior High Youth Group will attend the New Wilmington Missionary Conference Wednesday in New Wilmington. The group will leave the church at 8 a.m. For information or permission slips, contact the church office.

MUDDY CREEK U.P.

Members of Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, will host a joint parish picnic with members of Unionville United Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. Saturday. Entertainment will be provided by Mountain Railroad. Meat and beverages will be provided. Participants should take a tureen to share.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Son-LIFE Sunday school at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will meet at 9 a.m. Sunday.

New Life will provide backpacks and school supplies for students in need in southern Butler County, northern Allegheny County and Pittsburgh inner city schools. Any backpacks remaining will be sent to New Life's partner mission Tapestries of Life Ministries in Guadalupe, Mexico. To donate new or gently used backpacks, contact local mission and outreach facilitator Karen Schiebel at 724-586-2241.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

The youth staff of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson residence for a planning meeting, swimming and dinner. Participants should take a dish to share. For information, call the church office at 724-285-4214.

A reception will be held at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in the Parlor for the Rev. Dan Smith and his family.

Youth members of the Haven will host a "We are going to miss you Dan" farewell pool party at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Gruver residence. Participants should take a swimsuit, towel and a two-liter bottle of soda to share. Dinner will be provided. For information, call the church office.

A girls basketball camp for students at the Penn Christian Academy will be held Monday through July 28 in the church gymnasium. Camp sessions are available for elementary and junior high students. For costs, information or registration forms, contact the church office or welcome center.

A Praise-N-Fun Night will be held at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at the Haven for youth in grades 6 through 12.

OLD UNION PRESBY

Grove City College student David Ripper, who is preparing to go to seminary, will lead the Sunday service at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

The Worship Committee will meet after worship on Sunday.

PRISM will have its Garage Giveaway on Aug. 20 to provide new international students with used furniture and other household goods. Donations of beds, bedding, small appliances, towels, dishes, cooking utensils, desks, lamps, and small to moderate sized furniture are being accepted. Donated items may be placed in the church basement from Aug. 7 to 16.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

The congregation of St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, should wear red or green to the 10 a.m. Sunday service in observance of the Christmas in July celebration.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

In celebration of the last day of vacation Bible school at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., a picnic will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at Alameda Park.

The Senior Choir will host additional practices at 6:40 p.m. today and before the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services Sunday. The choir will perform at both Sunday services.

Saturday and Sunday will be the final services at St. Mark's led by the Rev. Philip Williams. Williams and his wife Nancy will host receptions in the Chapel following each of the weekend services.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

Anyone willing to help with Christian education in the fall at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., should contact Carol Elias at 724-287-1579. Partial commitments and/or team teachers are welcome.

During August, the church will be responsible for dessert donations for Meals on Wheels. Donations can be left in the kitchen anytime in August. Donations, containing no icing or nuts, should be marked "Meals on Wheels." Contact Judy Herman to make a donation.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

Mothers of children age 18 and younger are invited to a morning of spiritual refreshment and reflection beginning at 9 a.m. July 28 at St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia. Breakfast and a program, "Wearing Many Hats as a Mother," presented by Mrs. Barbara McCarthy, pastoral associate at St. Ferdinand Parish, will follow. The program will finish at noon. TRINITY LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at the 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday services Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr.

The contemporary service, scheduled for last Sunday, will be held at 11 a.m. this Sunday.

TRINITY PRESBY

The Rev. Carl Baughman will be the guest minister Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. Music ministry will be provided by the Trinity Trio.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

Communion will be celebrated during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday service at White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew.
