Doris Weiss Sedwick
Doris L. Weiss Sedwick, 81, of 405 Oak St., Sugarcreek, Ohio, died at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, at her home after a brief illness.
Born July 31, 1923, in Sugarcreek, she was the daughter of William W. and Matrona Domer Weiss.
She was a lifelong member of the Sugarcreek United Church of Christ and was looking forward to the completion of the church's new sanctuary so she could attend church again. She also was a member of the Pithian Sisters and Eastern Star.
Mrs. Sedwick had a special fondness of her home and community; and family and friends often relied upon her memory regarding local history. She enjoyed traveling and visited many places in her lifetime. She also enjoyed driving country roads in her community with a friend or friends to find a route that they had never driven before. She enjoyed watching Amish farmers with their teams of horses working in their fields.
Part of her daily routine was reading two newspapers and watching her favorite TV show, Jeopardy. She enjoyed eating out and visiting with friends on her front porch. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.
Surviving are her two sons, Dex R. (Corinne) Sedwick of Ashland, Ohio, and Kim (Sharon) Sedwick of Butler; five grandchildren, Tad (Melissa) Sedwick, Rob Sedwick and Renee of Ashland, Ohio, Amy Sedwick of Falls Church, Va., Meg Sedwick of San Diego, Calif., and Aby at home; and two great-grandchildren, Mya and Ady of Ashland, Ohio. A brother, William (Marilyn) Weiss of Sugarcreek, also survives.
Her husband, Dex A. Sedwick, whom she married April 21, 1946; died Oct. 8, 1993.
SEDWICK - Friends of Doris L. Weiss Sedwick, who died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today atSMITH FUNERAL HOME, 254 N. Broadway, Sugarcreek. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Church of Christ, 526 W. Main St., Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Carlan Helgeson officiating.
