Butler firm helps TV show

Keystone Ridge donates benches

Keystone Ridge Designs, a Butler manufacturer of site furniture, recently participated in a filming of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" with a donation of benches to the construction of a dream home for the Colleen Nick family in Alma, Ark.

In addition to that donation, seven members from the office traveled to Arkansas to volunteer on the set. Helping with jobs from laying sod to installing the donated benches, the team worked along side the cast, crew and hundreds of other volunteers to build a house for the family in seven days.

"In planning a unique backyard project, our patented Torque bench featuring diamond tread and I-beam construction caught the Extreme Team eye. What an honor for our company to receive such a compliment for our reputation of design and construction," said Keystone Ridge Designs president Artie Slear in a news release.

Nick and her family were surprised on June 9 that their house would be demolished and rebuilt by ABC. Ten years prior, her 6-year-old daughter, Morgan, was abducted from the parking lot of an Alma ballpark and never found.

Since then, Colleen has dedicated her life to finding her daughter and helping to prevent similar tragedies from happening to other parents. She started the Morgan Nick Foundation, which works with law officials and parents to provide education that is designed to prevent abduction.

Because of her work, Slear announced that Keystone Ridge Designs will donate a portion of its proceeds during July to the Morgan Nick Foundation, the news release states.

The Nick family episode is slated to air Sunday on Channel 4.
