Ruth E. Young Cornelius, 88, of Richland Township, died Friday, at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born on April 10, 1917 in Bryn Mawr, she was the daughter of Arthur and Grace Laughead Young.

Mrs. Cornelius was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown. She worked for Eden Hall Farms in Richland Township for years, and she enjoyed sewing, dancing, and a wide variety of music.

She was the loving mother of Nancy (Gary) Metkler of Mars, Linda (Mike) Morse of Butler, and Bill (Terri) Cornelius of Valencia. Also surviving are six grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife of Fred R. Cornelius Sr., whom she married on Aug. 26, 1950, and died on Jan. 21, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Fred R. Cornelius Jr., and three brothers.

CORNELIUS - The family of Ruth E. Young Cornelius, who died Friday, June 3, 2005, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, Richland Township. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Cope officiating.
