Howard B. Jones

Howard B. Jones, 69, of 119 Thorn Run Road died Thursday evening at Sunnyview Home.

Born April 19, 1936, in Russell, Warren County, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Pearl Gruber Jones.

In 1978, he retired as a machine operator from the Crescent Tool Corp. in Jamestown, N.Y. After moving to Butler, he opened and operated Howard's Restaurant on Center Avenue from 1982 to 1984. From 1988 to 1997, he operated Howard's Restaurant in Mars. Following that he worked for the Sedan Service Co. and the Geibel Funeral Home in Butler.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where he was an usher. He was a member of the Butler Elks Lodge 170, was an honorary member of VFW Post 249, and was a volunteer member of its ceremonial honor guard.

Mr. Jones enjoyed to cook, bowling and world travel, and he collected and restored antique and classic automobiles.

He is survived by his fiancée, Pauline McCall of Butler; two sons, Howard Paul Jones of Bear Lake, Pa., and David B. Jones of Wilmington, N.C.; six daughters, Mrs. Darlene Pangborn and Julie Jones, both of Jamestown, N.Y.; Mrs. Adam (Lynne) Dyer and Mrs. Tim (Noreen) Dyer, both of Youngsville, Pa.; Mrs. Forrest (Angela) Ludwick of Elkhart, Ind.; and Mrs. Nick (Barbara) Harvey of Buffalo, N.Y.

Also surviving are two brothers, Richard and Dale Jones, both of Russell; a sister, Marian Hartley of Shaktoolik, Alaska; his former wife, Dorothy Hartigan of Jamestown; 26 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.

JONES - Friends of Howard B. Jones, who died Thursday, May 26, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at theGEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
