Thayle E. McGinnis Sr., 70, of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, near Sligo, formerly of Chicora, died at 10:48 p.m. Sunday at Clarion Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Eau Claire, July 6, 1934, he was the son of David "Ike" and Jessie Dunkle McGinnis.

He was a forklift operator at Knox Glass plant for 20 years until his illness.

Mr. McGinnis was a Methodist.

Surviving are a son, T. Ed McGinnis of Chicora; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Coralee) Cox of Pulaski, Mrs. Louis (Darlene) Davis of Sligo and Ms. Chrissy Novotny of Saxonburg; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his stepmother, Veda "Abbie" Cotton McGinnis of Boyers, who raised him; four brothers, the Rev. Amos McGinnis of Flora, Ind., David "Mac" Zeldon McGinnis Jr. of Emlenton, Dale Warters of Jeromesville, Ohio, and Terry McGinnis of Ashland, Ohio; six sisters, Doris McGinnis Dunkle of Oil City, Louise Warters Carrick of New Kensington, Karen McGinnis Terwilliger of Boyers, Llevellyn "Lou" McGinnis of Ashland, Ohio, Abbie McGinnis Reeder of Jackson Center and Cythinia McGinnis Campbell of Cumming, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers preceded him in death.

<B>McGINNIS</B> - Friends of Thayle E. McGinnis Sr., who died Sunday, May 15, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with his brother, the Rev. Amos McGinnis, officiating. Burial will be at Eau Claire Cemetery.
